Model Settings

Home / Components / Model Settings

The Model Settings component is one of the most powerful and flexible in thinkpipes. Choices made in the Model Settings component will affect the value of a particular stock throughout the platform (until reset by the user.) When a user chooses to view model settings through Option Montage component, the underlying that has been entered into Option Montage will filter into the Model Settings profile. If a user views Model Settings independently the profile will be labeled default.

Use your mouse to rollover the screenshot above and click on one of the  blue dots to learn more about the different tools and icons in thinkpipes.

Apply/Reset

After the user makes adjustments to the underlying, apply needs to be clicked for them to alter the series. If the user makes adjustments but chooses not to use them, they may click reset to return to system defaults.

Beta

The Beta drop menu works very similar to the dividend drop down, the default is the system beta, and the user may select custom beta. When custom beta is activated the user may enter the desired value.

Collapse Component

The Collapse Component button will shrink the component vertically. It does not remove the component from your screen layout.

Collapse Model

The small blue triangles collapse or expand sections of the component. In this case, the Custom Model button will display or disappear. Note: the Custom Model button has not been implemented yet.

Component Launch Menu Button

The Component Launch Menu button lets you choose to detach, detach copy, close or substitute one component for another in the same location in your screen layout.

Dividends

The dividend drop down menu is by default set to system dividend, the user may select custom dividend as an alternate. When custom dividend is chosen the box below will activate and the desired value can be entered. Below the dividend value is the word frequency and a drop down menu. This menu will allow the user to determine how often the stock will be issued a dividend, Q represents quarterly, A stands for annually, and S stands for Semi-Annually

Edit Option Series

Clicking on the Edit Option Series button will launch a window where users can add or remove a series from the model. Highlighting a strike and then choosing remove will remove a series, choosing add will prompt the user to select an underlying. Entering an underlying will display all series available, highlighting the series and then clicking add will add the series to the model.

Manage Profiles

The Manage Profile button allows users to add, remove, edit, export, and import underlyings to the Model Settings profile manager. Note: Export and Import have not been implemented yet.

Model

The user may choose from default, Black-Scholes and Binomial for models.

Window Details button

Much like a drop down menu, clicking on a blue Window Details informs a user that there are multiple choices and/or alternatives to the default selection.
